Bourbon Street serves authentic Cajun and Creole, the French-inspired cuisine of New Orleans, in a characteristic warm and relaxed atmosphere. Bring a large appetite as the fare can be quite hearty.
For starters, try the wonderful cajun popcorn shrimp, delicately fried in spicy batter then served with a tangy sauce or opt for a light salad of rocket with cucumber, tomato, pecans and croutons tossed in balsamic dressing. For mains, pick boiled crawfish accompanied by corn on the cob, andouille pork sausage and boiled potatoes; this filling dish is a much-loved cajun staple. Alternatively, try cajun chicken coq au vin, a half-chicken seared in cajun spices and simmered in a red wine, mushroom and onion sauce then served with boiled parsley potatoes and mixed vegetables. For dessert, the delicious New Orleans original bread pudding with whisky sauce is a must-try; there is also the choice of white chocolate or pecan praline bourbon sauce instead of whisky sauce.
